Training method of Exercising for MS Patients

The first important point is that over-exercising is not recommended. You may have heard that it is said: Stretch your leg until it is in pain.  or irritation is felt after exercising. However, be careful that these expressions affect negatively on MS patients.

Some points on exercising

  • Warm up your body prior to exercising,
  • In case you wish to exercise for 30-minute intervals, commence with 10 minutes and gradually increase it.
  • Choose safe area for exercising. Do not exercise in slippery places, are of low light and are hazardous to work in.
  • In case you have balance problem, ensure that you have available something to grab and lean to the same upon exercising.
  • Whenever you feel disturbed or ill, stop exercising.
  • Try to choose a certain type of exercising of refreshing nature and enjoy the same. the kinds of exercises with which the Ms patients feel easy with include yoga, Thai-Chee, swimming and aqua sports.  What shall I do if I feel over-hot? Some MS patients are heat-sensitive, i.e. their symptoms are worsened by increasing body temperature or are reappeared. Such incident may occur during exercising.

Pay attention to the following point to prevent over-heating:

  • Avoid exercising during hot hours of the day (i.e. between 10 a.m.- 02 p.m.). Try to exercise in the morning or at nights.
  • Drink cool beverages frequently.
  • Be aware of your body. If you find about any severe symptom did not existed prior to commencement of exercising, decrease or stop exercising until your body is cooled down.
  • Swimming and aqua sports inside cool water are from amongst good exercises which keep the body cool
